Psychological Consultation
Nervous system regulation plays a central role in sessions as we integrate practices to build capacity for the human spectrum of emotions and disentangle from unhelpful cognitions and outdated beliefs. Through understanding the ways different parts of your internal system have developed and adapted, we can identify any unmet needs and integrate resources to offer repair and restore harmony. Working in an integrated manner, knowing heart, body and mind are in constant communication, our sessions create an environment that allows you to welcome all parts of you back home.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy
EMDR therapy is a robust phased approach to treating trauma and relieving psychological stress by reconnecting in a safe and measured way to images, thoughts, emotions, and body sensations associated with events that may have overwhelmed our system in the past. Allowing the brain’s natural ability to heal and move toward adaptive resolution, EMDR recognises symptoms occur when trauma and challenging experiences occur without the resources necessary to safely digest what occurred. Healing is enabled when we stimulate the brain with bilateral stimulation while reawakening the memory network in a carefully titrated manner within the context of a safe environment we create together.

Active Breathwork
Integrating breathwork as an active meditation, with deep rhythmic breathing that changes the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide flowing through the body, prompts a highly cathartic and slightly altered state of mind. Using the breath to bridge our conscious and unconscious mind we quieten the default mode that often dominates daily functioning. This can allow us access to different levels of consciousness, tapping into emotional energy and often allows clarity and insights to emerge. Breathwork offers the body an opportunity to shift and integrate emotional material held in the fascia. These sessions also offer exposure to higher levels of autonomic arousal in a safe environment (being in a mildly stressed state) and so build natural tolerance and exercise resilience in the system. Studies have shown clients engaging in four weeks of breathwork feel less scared, notice a decrease in their symptoms of stress, an increase in life satisfaction, and decreased intensity of trigger activation response. The best part is that the benefits can be experienced after just one session. You might reconnect with neglected or closed off parts of your internal system and welcome them back into alignment.

Seasons of Change – Immersive Therapy Experiences
A Season of Change offers an immersive therapy experience. Collaborate with Positive Moves Wellbeing to tailor a therapeutic experience to your needs and adjust the dose and intensity of your therapy as you fully immerse yourself in the experience. Rather than drip feed therapy across many months, a season of therapy includes multiple extended sessions delivered across consecutive days or weeks. Experiences typically incorporate time in nature, movement for your body, integrative breathwork, psychotherapeutic work, and memory processing and reconsolidation (EMDR). We create time and space to deepen understanding of root causes, deconstruct outdated limiting beliefs, digest unprocessed emotional material and bring more adaptive information to the fore so you might restore and integrate your whole human complexity.
Bringing psychology to life and immersing in a healing environment offers space to regenerate the tired and the weary, to replenish parts of us ignored and neglected, and to restore our connection with the natural world around us. An opportunity to bring therapy out of the clinic and be supported in the practice and integration of therapy to sustain the body, heart, and mind so you might feel equipped to navigate the inevitable seasonal shifts we each encounter on our path through life.
Immersive experiences can be hosted in Albert Park (non-residential) or at Mountain Thyme, nestled amongst the beautiful mountains of Alpine Shire, Victoria (residential). Reach out to discuss which option suits your needs and schedule best.
